Parent & Safety

Skincare safety, explained for families.

A plain-English guide for parents and teens on what's appropriate at what age — and when to call a professional.

Ingredients that need care under 16

Strong actives like retinoids, high-strength glycolic acid, and concentrated benzoyl peroxide can be excellent — but they're easy to overuse and can damage a young barrier. Start gentle, introduce one product at a time, and ask a dermatologist before layering multiple actives.

Sunscreen is the most important step

Daily SPF 30+ prevents UV damage, dark marks, and long-term skin issues. Pick a sunscreen that feels good — that's the one that actually gets used.

When to see a dermatologist

Painful cystic acne, scarring, sudden changes, new moles, or anything that hurts emotionally as much as physically. Dermatology visits are normal — not a last resort.
